Community-Based Services

The YWCA of Metropolitan Detroit provides community-based services for survivors of intimate partner domestic violence who may not require residential shelter but still need access to support, advocacy, and critical resources.

Through YWCA Interim House, individuals living in the community can receive many of the same supportive services offered to residential participants while remaining in their own homes or living arrangements. These services are designed to ensure that survivors and community members have access to immediate assistance, advocacy, and connections to resources that support safety and stability.

For many individuals, reaching out for help may begin with immediate needs such as food, clothing, or access to essential resources. Community-based services are structured to provide practical support alongside advocacy, helping individuals stabilize their situation while receiving guidance and care from trained professionals.

For decades, the YWCA of Metropolitan Detroit has remained committed to serving individuals and families throughout our community. Providing support in moments of need is part of our ongoing legacy of service in Detroit, and we continue this work by ensuring that help remains accessible to those who need it most.

Community-Based Services May Include

Individuals accessing community-based support may receive assistance with:

  • Safety planning and crisis support
  • Victim advocacy and legal system navigation
  • Assistance with Personal Protection Orders (PPOs)
  • Case management and resource coordination
  • Referrals to housing, healthcare, legal, and social services
  • Food pantry assistance
  • Clothing and essential item support
  • Connections to additional community resources and support services

These services help ensure that individuals facing difficult situations have access to both practical assistance and professional advocacy as they work toward safety and stability.
